Course Description
This course focuses on Earth’s oceans. Students will explore the physical science topics like ocean composition and floor, the movement of water, and the ocean's effects on climate and weather. Students will also investigate biological science topics like marine algae, invertebrates, vertebrates, ecosystems and humans' influence on aquatic ecosystems. Special emphasis is placed on local maritime connections, along with marine communities, especially those living in and around New England waters. Laboratory investigations are integral parts of the course and are required. Dissection may be part of the curriculum.
Grading Policy
Calculation of Grades – Grades will be calculated using a percent system. 40% Tests, 60% Labs/Projects per marking period.
